Phone Numbers

The platform uses a bring-your-own-number (BYON) model: you add your operator/carrier number together with its SIP credentials, and the platform registers it to your operator’s SIP server automatically. Your agent then answers inbound calls on that number, and outbound calls originate from it.

Where: left nav → Phone Numbers (/phone-numbers).

  1. Click Add Phone Number.
  2. Choose your Operator — pick NetGSM to prefill the registrar host and transport, or Other / Manual.
  3. Enter the Phone Number (digits, optional leading +) and an optional Friendly Name.
  4. Enter the SIP credentials:
    • Operator SIP server (registrar host, e.g. sip.example.com)
    • SIP username
    • SIP password (masked, with a show/hide toggle)
    • Transport — UDP / TCP / TLS
  5. Optionally choose an Answering agent now (only active agents appear).
  6. Click Add Phone Number. The status shows Registering… → Registered.
Advanced settings
  • Enable registration — register to the operator’s SIP server (on by default). Off means the number won’t register.
  • Outbound proxy — a SIP proxy host, if your operator requires one.
  • Auth realm — a write-only SIP realm secret.
  • Inbound IP override — a CIDR (e.g. 185.88.7.0/24). Normally leave empty; the server resolves your operator’s IP automatically. Only set this if your operator sends inbound calls from a different IP.

The list shows a live registration badge for each number (with “checked … ago”):

Badge Meaning
Registered Live and working.
Registering… Request in flight — the page polls live status for up to ~2 minutes.
Unknown Status not verified yet; still monitoring.
Expired Check your SIP settings.
Registration failed Operator rejected — check the SIP server address and credentials.
Provisioning failed Try again, or contact support.
Registration not tracked (registration disabled or no registrar host).

Use Refresh (list or detail page) to force a fresh live check — the stored status can be up to ~2 minutes stale.

Incoming calls on a number route to its assigned agent. Use the assign agent action (👤+) on the row, pick an active agent, and save. Choose None (Unassign) to clear it.

The Phone Number itself can’t be changed after creation. You can edit the friendly name, SIP server, transport and advanced settings. The SIP username / password / realm are never shown — leave them blank to keep the existing values, or type a new value to replace.

  • Deleting a number deregisters it from the operator and stops it receiving calls (irreversible).
  • Only agents with status Active can be assigned.
  • Each number’s Recording Consent can be bound on its detail page (see Consents).
